Aug 9 - Razor State Park - Northern Cascade Hwy

Well, there was no rain in the forecast yesterday for the highway but when I started to cloud up in Mt Vernon last night I checked. There's all day rain in the forecast for today. Ugh! Coupled with the closure of Hwy 20 - double Ugh!

But I was making alternate plans -- Whale Watching and I'm excited. Also, Mt Baker Hwy which I wanted to do but there was rain in the forecast for Mt Baker.

So it's a rainy morning but I'm still going out towards the N. Cascades with rain coat/pants in hand. Going to try to make the best of things - that's my only choice.

I don't leave until almost 8am figuring if I can't make it to Winthrop, I have to delay long enough to check-in a hotel in Mt Vernon or Bellingham which is normally 3pm right.

So I hope on Hwy 20 and head east in the rain.

My 1st stop is Razar State Park. The Park is along the Skagit River and they have trail so let's give it a shot.

The trail map looks easy so I set off heading down towards the River. Tons of big tall moss covered tree.

Many of their roots are well out of the ground - odd.

Not may plants but I do find Phlox.

Ton of blackberries both ripe and mostly unripe.

Snowberries

Foxglove

Pea Family

And this flower of unknown species

When I finally reach the river. The trail is slightly above it with opening to get down there.

I walk as far done the river as possible and then am forced to head up towards the meadow and follow for a bit but it's really not very interesting so after spooking a rabbit, I make my way back to my car. By then, it's raining again.

Time for the next stop - Marblemount Fish Hatchery.
