July 4 - Lambs Canyon Road

Happy 4th of July!

I would love to do a real hike but it's not in my cards right now. But at least I can get out so I'm heading to walk Lambs Canyon Rd this morning.

I arrive around 8:30. The 1st part is in the sun but the rest of the road is in the shade - so much for butterflies.

I do see some flowers, mostly different species of Penstemon.

There are a few Lupine (w/ seed pods), Salsify,

Geraniums, Bluebells, Hollyhock, Roses, Thistle, Cinquefoil, Cow Parsnip and Queens Ann's Lace in bloom.

Tons of Bisquitroot with seeds, a few Thimbleberries in bloom and forming berries, my 1st Paintbrush of the year and Buckwheat:

The creek is still flowing at good rates.

I reach the trailhead and there are people hiking the trail this morning.

The trailhead is in the sun but only recently. Nothing flying but a couple of dragonflies. Oh, there was a White flyer - I believe it to be a Parnassian.

After a brief stop, it's time to head back down.

There's a bit more sun on the return. I see Western, Two-tailed and an Anise Swallowtails.

I also see a Rocky Mt Duskywing and a small orange flyer.

Good day!
